St. George Airport (SGU) 50 minutes
Lovely, small, local airport, east of downtown St. George
Salt Lake City Airport (SLC) 3 hours 45 minutes
May make sense for travelers interested in the central or northern Utah National and State Parks

What will the weather be like?
3
We hope for 70s during the day and 50s at night. However, the high-desert is unpredictable and it could be 95 or snowing. Our elevation is 5,300 feet and while we are tucked away in the foothills of Pine Valley Mountains, it can also get quite windy.
Bring layers (no matter what the weather says!), lots of sunscreen and hydrating lotion.
Where should I stay?

New Harmony & Kanarraville
We recommend looking at AirBNB and VRBO first. There are residential rentals in and near New Harmony. Kanarraville is a good option as the neighboring town. However, we wouldn’t go much further north than that. Instead, we recommend looking south of us.
The furthest south you would want to stay is St. George. We live about 40 minutes north of Downtown St George, straight up the 15. The further north you are from St. George, the more convenient for the weekend activities, and also the fewer amenities you will have.
For those coming in only for the weekend, I recommend staying close to New Harmony in a place with a kitchen and stopping in St. George for groceries before heading up to your rental. Spend Friday relaxing and hiking Kanarra falls with us, do Kolob on Saturday day followed by wedding late afternoon / evening, and spend Sunday hanging with us at the Hot Springs and / or going to Snow Canyon (see Travel for more info).
We highly recommend stopping at the St. George Deseret Industries Thrift Store on your way up or down.
For Groceries go to Harmons St George, Costco St. George or Albertsons St. George.
St. George
There are a few nice hotels in St. George, 35-45 minutes away. That may not seem far, but its a noticeable drive at 80 mph and about 2,000 ft in elevation change. That said, St. George has a cute little walkable downtown area.

Toquerville
Toquerville is about half way between St. George and New Harmony. There are a number of cute residential rentals here and its not far from amenities in La Verkin, like restaurants and a grocery store. It’s also closer to Zion’s Main entrance than both New Harmony and St. George.
La Verkin
La Verkin is roughly in the middle of the St. George, Zion Main Entrance, New Harmony triangle. It offers mainstream hotels and the convenience of restaurants and grocery stores. Check out The Dwellings for pet friendly tiny-home accommodations. Be sure to get a scenic side view (otherwise you’ll be looking at a main road). La Verkin has a super cute coffee shop and restaurant called River Rock Roasting Company and the Zion Canyon Hot Springs (a possible Sunday activity is being considered here).
Virgin
Virgin is quite charming and has lots of fun places to stay to for a night or two. It’s very close to Zion’s Main entrance. Think glamping under the stars. Check out Zion White Bison Resort and Zion Wildfire Resort as examples.
Cedar City
We don’t recommend staying in Cedar City, unless you are only looking for a bed at a mediocre hotel near Walmart and McDonalds. It’s also even further from SGA and LAS.
AVOID
We’ve been told do NOT stay at the Gooseberry lodge!
